Sony Xperia Tipo

Priced under INR 10,000 Sony has presented us with its delightful smartphone in 2012. Known for its Walkman series with quality sound and features. Sony has done a decent job not only in living up to its image but also enhancing it. Armed with Android OS, v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It runs on an 800 MHz Qualcomm processor and Adreno 200 for graphics, supported by 512 MB of RAM. It comes with around 3 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32 GB via micro SD. The phone is stylish in looks, with a choice of four different colours. It has a good 3.2-inch scratch-resistant display with pixel density of about 180 ppi and 480x320 pixels resolution. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and micro USB connectivity suite, all with a good battery life. The 3.2MP camera comes with bundle of features like Geo-tagging, image stabilization; face detection, auto focus, and 3D Sweep Panorama etc. However, there is no flash in this smartphone so one should not expect to click pictures when the light is low plus the quality of video is about average. The smartphone is also available in dual SIM version which is again the best value for money under the category. Although screen size of 3.2 inches,320 x 480 pixels might be a little disappointment for large screen lovers. However with the given price tag and features. This smartphone by Sony is good enough to tempt its buyers.

Nokia Lumia 510

Windows powered Nokia Lumia 510 priced just under INR 10,000 is another eye catching device in the value for money smartphones category in India. It is the cheapest windows phone based device available in the market. Equipped with Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS, It runs on 800 MHz Cortex-A5 Qualcomm processor and Adreno 200 for graphics along with 256MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It has a large 4.0-inch, 480x800p TFT capacitive touchscreen with pixel density of about 233 ppi. The 5 MP camera clicks decent images with geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection features, however with lack of flash, night shots will come out half baked. The music experience is nice in Lumia 510 with speakers offering loud volume and clear sound. The key drawbacks for this smartphone are lack of storage expansion slot and it runs on Windows Phone 7.5 (and will get an upgrade only to Windows Phone 7.8) which means Windows Phone 8 is out of option for this smartphone. Given the price and features it is by far the best Windows Phone based device available today in the market

Micromax A87 Ninja 4.0

The Micromax A87 Ninja 4.0 is a smartphone priced smartly at INR 5,999 by far one of the cheapest dual SIM smartphone available in the market under value for money umbrella. Powered by Android 2.3 operating system. It runs on 1 GHz processor, supported by 256 MB of RAM with micro SD card slot with up to 32GB storage expansion option. The phone offers a largish 4-inch screen with decent resolution of 800 x 480 pixels which is the best in its price range. The phone has all the connectivity options and sensors that include 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS etc. similar to all Android smartphones these days. It has lousy 2 MP camera which is better to be left out in descriptions. The flipside is its very limited internal memory which is not suitable for users who prefer working with bundle of apps. Despite 1 GHz processor it takes time to load apps or webpages. Overall with the given features accompanied by large screen. It’s a delight for large screen lovers and a good value for money for buyers as it is still better than many feature phones out there.

Micormax A 110 Canvas 2

The Micromax A110 Canvas 2 price in India is around INR 9,990 in India and it is an upgrade of A 100 Canvas smartphone both in hardware and design. With Android OS, v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS, it’s a dual SIM smartphone which runs on a 1 GHz dual core processor. It has 3 GB of internal storage with 512 MB RAM. The special feature is its large 5-inch IPS LCD display with 480 x 854 pixels resolution which certainly gives a feel of Samsung Galaxy III or Galaxy Note smartphones. The build quality is with curved edges give it an impressive look. The 8 MP camera with dual-LED flash and good autofocus accompanied with geo-tagging, touch-focus, face detection features is a treat given the price. However as per expert reviews the camera module sticks out from the back of the device which could lead to scratches on the camera lens over a period of time. Hence, the long term durability of camera is a guessing concern. With good features, battery life and large screen display this smartphone can easily catch the eyeballs and is selling like hot cakes in the market.

Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite

Any list of modern smartphones is never completed without a Samsung device in it. Therefore here is the smartphone from the leader loaded with all the features to make it a worth value for money purchase. It is a dual SIM smartphone from an international brand which is priced under INR 10,000 cap. With Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread), it runs on 832 MHz ARM 11 processor with 265 MB RAM. It has 3GB internal storage with micro SD slot card up to 32 GB storage expansion slot. The hardware configuration are not the best in its segment, however it has a smooth interface in day to day usage. The screen is 2.8 inch with 320x240 pixels resolution that gives it a pixel density of 144 ppi approx. Although equipped with geo-tagging feature, the 2 MP camera does not add much value to it. The device comes with some pre-installed apps. The audio feature is a turn on for this smartphone as it plays the music clearly without any distortion. Major drawback is its screen size that annoys the user while accessing the apps, otherwise a good smartphone to buy at a decent price.

For those whose budgets are limited these smartphones are the best bet. However if you have an affection towards Windows Phone and Nokia, then Nokia Lumia 510 is the only choice in this budget at the moment. For the large screen lovers who cannot afford the likes of Samsung Galaxy S III or Note, for them, Micromax A110 Canvas 2 is a great deal to seal. If you are looking for features and smooth operation then Sony Xperia Tipo and Nokia Lumia 510 are close buy. For Dual SIM holders Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite and Micromax A87 Ninja 4.0 are the best buy under the affordable price tag.
